The Private Equities Department is responsible for investing in private equity globally through externally managed funds KIA began investing in private equity as early as 1984 to diversify the KIA portfolio and to seek risk-adjusted returns that exceed those possible in the public equity markets.
Private equity is an asset class investing in equity securities and debt in operating companies that are not publicly traded on a stock exchange and usually through a fund manager. Our Private Equity Team oversees the management of significant Private Equity Funds with reputable fund managers all over the world.
KIA's Private Equity Team invests in private equity funds organized geographically across North America, Europe and Emerging Markets and investing across all strategies ( primary funds , secondary funds, credit and distressed, and venture capital).
KIA does not invest directly in any North America fund if the size of the fund is below USD 1.5 Billion. KIA does not invest directly in any Emerging Markets fund if the size of the fund is below USD 1.0 Billion. KIA does not invest directly in any European fund if the size of the fund is below Euro 2.0 Billion, which is covered by the Kuwait Investment Office in London
